Michael Hall

Founder

Michael is the founder and CEO of Shady Grove Road Investments, LLC (“SGR”).  Prior to forming SGR, Michael was the Managing Partner of Mas Energy, LLC.  Under Michael’s leadership, Mas Energy became a leading biogas to energy company that developed, owned, and operated assets with an enterprise value in excess of $1.5 billion.

Before Mas Energy, Michael served as Vice President of Business Development for Veolia Energy North America, the North American business of international energy company Veolia Energy, focused on district energy, cogeneration and utilities outsourcing. Michael was a key member of the senior management team responsible for leading their business and project development efforts in the US.

Prior to working at Veolia, Michael held various management and development positions within the energy industry at Fortune 500 companies including Johnson Controls, General Electric, and Southern Company.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University’s Bagley College of Engineering and is Distinguished Alumni Fellow.

Troy LeSage

Director of Product Development

Troy LeSage is the Director of Product Development at SGR Investments. In his role at SGR, he leads research and development efforts—creating technologies that enhance industrial efficiency and evaluating emerging solutions for both new and existing projects. Troy also oversees and manages ongoing activities in SGR’s research hub, located in the IDEE Lab of Mississippi State University’s School of Mechanical Engineering.

Troy began his career at Emission Testing Services Inc., where he managed emissions testing projects and ensured regulatory compliance for petrochemical facilities across the southeastern United States. He then joined The Shaw Group and worked in the landfill gas collection industry, leading a full-service O&M team that installed and maintained gas collection systems and flare stations.

He later moved to Renovar Energy Corp., where he managed and operated five waste-to-energy projects in Louisiana and Texas. Troy continued his work in renewable energy at Mas Energy as an Operations Manager for several renewable natural gas and medium-BTU processing projects.

Outside of work, Troy enjoys being outdoors, deer hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

Michael McHenry

Director of SGR Commercial Properties

Michael B. McHenry leverages more than 26 years of extensive legal experience to excel in his current role as the Director of Properties for Shady Grove Road Properties. In his position at Shady Grove Road Properties, he is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of commercial properties, applying his deep understanding of legal frameworks to optimize transactions and mitigate risk. His unique background as a seasoned attorney allows him to approach property management and development with a meticulous eye for detail and a forward-thinking perspective on legal and business challenges.

Throughout his distinguished career, Michael has navigated virtually all areas of the law, developing a comprehensive skillset in negotiation, complex problem-solving, and strategic management that provides a unique advantage in the commercial real estate sector.

Michael received his B.S. in Banking and Finance from Mississippi State University before attending law school at the University of Mississippi. He is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Alabama.

Committed to his community, Michael resides in Saltillo, Mississippi, with his wife, Amber, and their four children. When not focused on his professional endeavors, he values time spent with his family and engaging with the local community.

Katie Liu

Managing Director

Katie Liu is the Managing Director at SGR Investments, where she oversees the full lifecycle of equestrian and property projects from acquisition through execution.

With a strong foundation in project management, Katie leads the planning, coordination, and optimization of all internal operations across equestrian disciplines. She successfully manages complex, high-value initiatives, including the purchase, renovation, marketing, and sale of large properties. In this role, she directs every phase of each project – budgeting, contractor oversight, operational design, and go-to-market strategy – to deliver profitable and efficient results.

Prior to joining SGR Investments, Katie built a strong foundation in large-scale project execution as an Event Director in Atlanta. In that role, she developed new business opportunities, managed key client relationships, and oversaw the planning and delivery of high-profile events for audiences exceeding 1,000 attendees. Her work included leading all event operations for the New England Patriots during the 2019 Super Bowl.

Katie holds a B.A. in Management from The University of Alabama. Katie lives in Atlanta with her husband and girls. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family and baking.

Bailey Hall

Senior Development Engineer
and Assistant General Manager

Bailey Hall is a Senior Development Engineer and Assistant General Manager at SGR Investments, where she supports SGR’s full range of investment activities. She conducts both financial and engineering assessments, guides project planning, and manages key operational processes across multiple asset classes.

Prior to joining SGR Investments, Bailey worked as a Procurement Engineer for
Invenergy and held an internship with Candela Renewables. She has experience supporting a full range of procurement activities, including technical and financial assessment of key equipment, negotiation of commercial agreements, oversight of contract compliance, coordination of logistics, and managing on-site QA/QC activities.

Bailey combines her experience in development, operations, and investment analysis to identify new opportunities and enhance the performance of SGR’s portfolio.

Bailey holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and an M.Sc. in Power Systems Engineering from University College London.

Outside of work Bailey enjoys spending time hiking, climbing, and camping.

Kayla Miller

Senior Development Engineer
and Operations Manager

Kayla Miller is a Senior Development Engineer and Operations Manager at SGR Investments, where she develops energy projects, oversees daily operations, and evaluates emerging technologies to support new and existing developments. She works across engineering, operations, and project execution to advance SGR’s growing energy development portfolio.

Kayla began her career at Chesapeake Energy, where she gained hands-on operational experience by working in the field. After her field rotations, she strengthened her technical foundation in the engineering office, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Throughout her time at Chesapeake, she managed field crews, oversaw operational programs, and built a comprehensive understanding of energyproduction systems. She continued her career at Mas Energy, where she expanded her expertise into renewable natural gas operations – leading field operations, optimizing gas processing systems, and supporting project development efforts across multiple sites.

Kayla holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University. Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, playing pickleball, and spending time with her family.

Rachel Covert

Analyst

Rachel Covert is an Analyst at SGR Investments, where she specializes in financial modeling and portfolio reporting. She supports SGR’s investment and asset management functions, bringing analytical rigor and disciplined reporting across the portfolio.

Before joining SGR Investments, Rachel conducted research at Oberlin College on renewable energy infrastructure and carbon-neutrality strategies and completed internships with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and Mas Energy. These experiences strengthened her technical problem-solving abilities and broadened her perspective on applied modeling.

Rachel holds a B.S. in Physics with a concentration in Astrophysics from Oberlin College and Conservatory.

She is also a lifelong swimmer, earning multiple state titles and competing at the collegiate level. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring topics in astrophysics and psychology.

Brandi Brown

Executive and Administrative Assistant

Brandi Brown serves as an Executive and Administrative Assistant for Shady Grove Road Properties, where she oversees property management across multiple platforms, day to day office operations and contributes to the strategic growth of the company while also playing a key role in managing and developing timber properties to extend the company’s property portfolio.

Brandi began her career as a paralegal, spending over 20 years providing comprehensive legal support, case management, and document preparation across a range of practice areas. Her extensive experience in legal operations honed her organizational, analytical, and client-focused skills.

Brandi holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies, both earned from the University of Mississippi.

Beyond her professional role, Brandi is committed to helping her community and local schools. She is married to Brad Brown, and together they have two sons. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and playing tennis.
